Karen Feldman - Principal Dance Teacher

Karen has been dancing for over 15 years and was absolutely thrilled to open up her own dance studio in 2005 with a small group of 15 dancers. In just four years the studio has grown to over 300 students with classes offered in four locations across the Geelong region. In 2010 the studio will celebrates its 5th year of successful operation.

Karen also conducts a regular class at Karingal, teaching modern dance to a small group of adults with disabilities. She is also a regular guest artist at the Cloverdale Community Centre “Girls Express” program. She holds a Hip Hop / Commercial Dance Short Course through the Deakin University Student Association at the Waurn Ponds campus.

In 2008 she was a co-choreographer for the G.S.O.D.A. Junior Players production of “Reel to Real” at the Blakiston Theatre, Geelong Performing Arts Centre.

She trained in contemporary dance through Deakin University (Burwood), where she was taught creative dance techniques and developed advanced choreography skills.

For two years she coached the Geelong Supercats Cheerleaders and ran Cheerleading school-holiday workshops for young girls. She was selected for the Victorian State Dancers in 2000, a state government dance troupe which performed at government functions and events.

In 1998 she toured England, France and Sweden with the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge and was also involved with choreography for Rock Eisteddfods at Belmont High School.

On stage she first performed with G.S.O.D.A. Junior Players then went onto be a member of several amateur theatre dance ensembles including Lyric Theatre Society and Doorstep Productions. 

Currently she is the Dance Coordinator at Clonard College in Geelong West and cheorgraphed their recent Rock Eisteddfod Challenge entry. Prior opening her dance studio Karen worked as the Production Coordinator for ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire” at Channel Nine and was the Features Editor for Postcards Magazine for three years.

Tarah Kelly

 

Tarah Kelly, 21, began dancing at the age of 3 and since then hasn't stopped. After completing year 12 Tarah went straight on to study dance full-time at Dance Factory where she successfully completed her certificate IV in dance and performance followed by a year of professional training at Spectrum Dance under the direction on Trish Squire-Rogers. Tarah has been trained in a wide variety of styles of dance, jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, funk, acrobatics, musical theatre, singing and acting. Tarah's professional experince includes a benefit performance choreographed by Dana Jolly alongside artists of the Australian Ballet School and Company, "The Players Review" for the AFL Footy Show Grandfinal channel 9, Dragons basketball matches, performances at Crown Casino and performances at corporate events. Tarah has also co-produced, choreograophed, danced and directed a bushfire benefit "A Brighter Blaze" alongside fellow dancer and friend Zoe Marsh.

Tarah has dedicated her life to dance and enjoys spreading her passion and love for it amoungest her students and their families.

 

Jen Charlotte

Jen has spent much of her life dancing and leading children in the world of dance. She herself began to dance at 6 years of age with ballet, jazz and tap training in Townsville. In 1997 Jen became a student here in Geelong with Christian College Dance Company studying modern, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and funk. It was also during this time that Jen began cheerleading witht the Geelong Supercats Cheerleading Squad.

Throughout her extensive experience Jen has performed at many events including dance showcases, school events, concerts and the AFL Grand Final. In 2002 Jen was elected cheerleading captain and commenced choreographing dance routines for the Geelong Supercats games and coordinating cheerleading holiday camps and routines for girls aged 6 - 18.

Jen has also been part of the Victorian Youth Alive Dance Team and Planet Shakers Dance Team, performing for thousands at conferences and rallies at Hisense Arena during her time in Melbourne.

Jen recently returned to Geelong and is currently studying her Bachelor of Primary Education at Deakin University and is very excited to continue her dance teaching here in Geelong!
